Hi, on this site as well as on another one of another client, the categories filter is no longer showing on the main events page of The Events Calendar (or as a matter of fact in none of the other views as for instance category archives views). The categories list only show if you click on the list or month view buttons on that or any page. They used to show fine everywhere until recently but there were several (automatic) updates of The Events Calender in June and maybe one of them is causing this new situation.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @mihue

Thanks for reaching out. Let me help you with this one.

If you have caching plugin or server-side caching, please try to disable it temporarily, and see if that makes a difference.

Let me know how it goes.

Thank your feedback. We use WP Super Cache but it was not active at the moment the problem with the categories was detected by our client. I deactivated it once again now in order to test and it didn’t change anything.

    Hi @mihue ,

Thank you for your message and the information. Everything seems current by the looks of it.

At this point, I suspect there’s a conflict that’s causing the issue here. It would be good to test for conflicts. Could you follow the following steps?

    1. Deactivate all other plugins except for The Events Calendar Plugins.
    2. Switching to the Default theme.

Please read the Testing for Conflicts Article before doing anything.

To be safe, we’d recommend conducting tests and updates on a Staging Server. Also, please keep a working backup of your website.

    Hi @mihue

I hope you’re doing well. I just wanted to touch base and check in with you. It’s been a little while since we’ve heard from you. I was just curious if you had the chance to try out the recommendation provided above.

Let me know if there’s anything we can assist you with.

Hi, thank you for touching base. I didn’t have a chance or time to follow your recommendations yet. It’s a live site and not so easy. I just thought maybe there are other people which have experienced the same issues and there is a known workaround. I also have the same issue in another site (https://www.svin.ch/veranstaltungen/) which is quite different in plugin composition and theme, so I have first to analyse what is common between the two sites. I would rather tip there was a change in the main Events Calendar Plugin which is causing this …

New information! With the Rollback Plugin, I have gone back through all the releases of the Events Calender since 6.5.0, one by one. When I rolled back from 6.5.0 to 6.4.0.1, the category colors (filter menu) appeared again on the main page. So it was, as I have suspected, the 6.5.x release has some major modification …

Hi @d0153 have you found out anything else about this? For my both clients using this, the categories are really important. I discovered that the problem persists only in list view, if i choose month view as preferred display option, the legend is shown and also stays. I don’t understand as both views use the same header component and the legend is placed in the header. By the way, is there any code I can use to place the legend directly in a TEC header.php override? Just as a temporary solution, I thought …

Any news about this topic? I’m experiencing the same issue, with TEC 6.7.0 and TEC Category Colors v7.3.2.

Category buttons not showing on main events page (list view), only if I click on calendar view. If I go back to list view after that, the buttons are still there. But never the first time loading that page.

I was wondering the same thing – By the way, is there any code I can use to place the legend directly in a TEC header.php override?

Does anyone know of a quick easy way to do this?
