Categories not displaying

  • Hi there!

    I’m super new-user to WordPress. Also: I am NOT a developer. = I look for drag and drop wherever I can. ??

    1) I created categories so readers could easily get to topics they are most interested in. Problem is, when clicking on that menu item (“Categories”), the actual categories do not display for a reader to choose from. See link attached.
    ????

    2) I also can not seem to find a way to add just the simple “Tags” with choices of tags, to a Main Menu only on the right side of the page.

    Hi Tanya,

    Thanks for choosing Tracks!

    Please visit the Customizer (Appearance > Customize) and click on the Menus section you find there. Then you can select your menu and then click the “Add items” button to add new menu items. You’ll see an option to add categories and tags into the menu there.

    Yep – I had played around there initially and did create those areas.
    Only problem I was noticing was, when you click on Categories (as a link in the Menu) nothing appears. Even though I have two posts labeled to sit under certain categories and tags.
    Neither render.

    Ideas?

    It looked like the Categories page was published as a Page from the admin menu which isn’t linked with posts. You’ll want to link to the category archive itself. For instance, here’s what the Communication category archive looks like on the site: https://www.tanyamaslach.com/category/communication/. That can be linked to directly from the menu.

    Can you tell me HOW to “You’ll want to link to the category archive itself.”

    Or are there detailed video instructions somewhere I can learn from?
