Categories no longer Working

  • Hi,

    For some reason, my category tags are no longer working; I will click on one of the categories in the sidebar, but instead of bringing back all those tagged in the respective category I get a mish-mash of results.

    Does anyone know why this would happen? And why it has suddenly stopped working?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    Hi Esmi,

    Thanks for the advice.

    I’ve deactivated all plugins to no avail. Also reset the plugins via PHP – same result. The theme is TwentyTwelve child – I reverted to the parent, still no luck.

    I guess I’m going to have to re-install. I’ve never done this before so wish me luck!
