Categories no longer generating

I’ve been using Event Calendar Newsletter Pro for a few months now and have been pretty happy with it. Today, though, I’ve found that the shortcode {categories} is no longer generating associated categories names. I am seeing verbatim output: {categories}
Did this shortcode change in a recent update?
