Categories in Columns

Hi there everyone, I’m thinking about doing something on my blog but I’m not sure if it is possible… I’m not a WP veteran, but I can find my way around scripts and programming languages. So, I don’t need in-depth help with this one – only want to know if it is something WP can or cannot do. I can figure my way from there ??

HERE IT GOES:
My blog has four categories. I’d like my home page to be divided in four columns, each for a category, displaying the latest posts in that specific category. It’s supposed to look like a newspaper – each column talks about a subject.
