Categories empty after move from .com to .org

Hi everyone!

I’m hoping someone can give me a little insight.

I recently transferred a blog from wordpress.com to a .org installation and I’m quite puzzled.

The categories are there and the posts are assigned categories yet when viewing the categories in the Dashboard (Posts > Categories), most are showing empty. So needless to say, the category cloud is quite empty.

I saw a previous post about this and it was marked resolved but no solution was publicly provided.

Is there a way to “resync” the categories with the posts so to speak?

Any help would be appreciated!
