Categories do not display when > 1 category

    When inserting 1 category either in post-new.php or edit-tags.php?taxonomy=category the category is listed and continues to be listed on both pages.

    However, when more than 1 category is held, no categories are shown on either page.

    The categories still remain in the database.

    This occurs across my custom Theme as well as themes Twentyeleven and Twentytwelve.

    Any ideas?
