Categories Disappear

To have context, how are you creating the subcategories? What are the steps you take to do so?

Also, to understand your setup better and further check into the issue you have, kindly provide us the following:

• Your System Status: You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select ‘Get system report’ and then ‘Copy for support’. Once you do this, you can paste here your response.

I’m doing that now.
I’m doing the normal method of Products > Categories and creating a new toplevel category then creationg a sub-category.
It is inconsistent.
Sometimes they stay.
Sometimes they disappear within seconds.

I’ve cleaned the database, rebuilt the WC database, cleaned the WC database, etc.

I’ve done a site health check.

For example:
Organizaton still exists.
Organization > Laundry still exists
But
Organization > Kitchen was created and disappeared.
Organization > Bathroom was created and disappeared

Thanks for providing the Status report.

This is very unusual behavior and not something that I am able to replicate on my testing site, which uses the default Storefront theme.

WP Version: ? 5.9.3 - There is a newer version of WordPress available (6.0)

As a next step, please could you update WordPress to the latest available version, to see if this makes any difference?

Additionally, kindly navigate to?WooCommerce?>?Status?>?Tools?and do the following:

– Clear WooCommerce transients
?– Clear expired transients?
– Recount terms
?– Regenerate Product lookup tables?

If the issue is still present, please navigate to WooCommerce > Status > Logs and share any fatal error logs you may find.

This is indeed an interesting problem.

WooCommerce itself won’t delete a category without a trigger from another service. Can you please check these that can be related to this problem:

– Is there any caching enabled on your server?
– Does any other information gets deleted? For example, new content on a post or new products?
– Do you have any API integration that can override your site’s data?

It will be best to create a staging site and deactivate all plugins, and themes there. Then check if the categories are getting removed automatically on the staging site. This will allow you to identify if the problem is coming from any plugin or integration on the live site.
