Categories are not Applying to Posts

I put up a new blog a couple of weeks ago and the Posts are not posting correctly to their categories. I have two pages of content to sort: Qualifications and The Marketing Blog. Both categories have been created and both have been assigned to the pages filtering on the category. I deactivated all plugins thinking there was a some sort of interference going on. Nothing happened. When I deactivated the theme the categories sorted correctly.

Not sure where to look at with the theme to make the correction. Of course, I paid $49 for the theme two weeks ago and now the developer is gone like the wind. Any thoughts on where to look to make the PHP changes? Not a deep expert in PHP but I can get around with a little direction.
