Categories and Menus Phase In and Out
-
I’m creating a new WordPress site and it’s the first time I’m using the newest version (3.7.1). I upgraded after installing a couple plug-ins, but before making any posts or categories or menus or anything else. When I go to make a new category, I can enter in the information and press Add New Category, and the *number* of categories increases, but the actual list of categories stays blank and says “No items found”. I can create, say, five categories, and it will say “5 items” in the upper and lower corners below the list, but the list of categories itself will still say “No items found”. If I search for a category I know I’ve made, it will change to the number of categories it “found,” but the list will still be unpopulated.
When I make a new post or menu, no categories show up, nor does it allow me to create a new category from there.
The menus do pretty much the same thing. I’ll create a menu, but then it will say that none are there. If I try to make a menu again with the same name, it will give me an error due to the name conflicting, however… none will be there.
For a hot minute the categories suddenly appeared! And I added the one post I made to a category. But then I refreshed and they were back to being invisible again. Now I think if I edit the post it will go back to being uncategorized. And of course I can’t add any of the invisible categories to the invisible menus.
I also can’t disable comments, but I’m not sure if this is related.
None of the problem seems to be on the front end, but in case it matters, ethanjhulbert.com
