Categories and Archives don't show in sidebar menu

I just started on WordPress and chose the Twenty Fourteen theme. But, none of the standard menu items are showing on the left side menu, such as Categories, Archives, Tags, etc. even though I’ve actually created a few posts. Can you help me figure out why they aren’t appearing?
