I’ve tried toying with https://lanuvola.org/events/wp-admin/options-permalink.php and https://lanuvola.org/events/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=event&page=events-manager-options#pages permalinks but with no luck

After some more research …
I see i would require single not seperate toxonomies

EVENT TAXONOMIES
Regular posts can be ordered into taxonomies — categories and tags. Having separate taxonomies for events (i.e. event categories and event tags) is useful for separating them from your regular content. If you organize Web development conferences, you might want to differentiate between design- and coding-related ones, or you might want to single out JavaScript- and Ruby-related ones. Your regular content might have nothing to do with Web development, so having separate taxonomies would come in handy.

You can add normal categories to Events e.g. paste this to your themes functions.php file

register_taxonomy_for_object_type( 'category', 'event' );

maybe needs to be wrapped like this:

function my_custom_tax(){
  register_taxonomy_for_object_type( 'category', 'event' );
}
add_action('init','my_custom_tax');
