• I have 5 different categories that I’ve posted to. Why do only 2 show up on my sidebar under “Catagories”?

  • Could you post the PHP tag for retrieving the categories please?

I’m sorry, I don’t know what you’re referring to. Where would I find that?

Are the categories you’re having problems with sub-categories to the main categories?

I have 4 major catagories: General, Websites, BlogSwap and Theology.
I have 1 sub-catagory under Theology which is Ecclesiology.
The catagories show up correctly on my posts.
Only 2 catagories show up on my sidebar under “Catagories”. Those are “General” and “Websites”

Well I’m stomped. Sorry, but I don’t know why this is ??

Doesn’t <li id="categories"> refer to a stylesheet entry? If so, there is no entry in my stylesheet with “categories” designation. Could this be the problem?
Should I add this to my stylesheet? If so, can someone post their entry so I can get an idea of what it should look like?
    I’m using the “Gemini” template.

id=”categories” is merely a link that you can hook a piece of CSS onto. It isn’t needed, and I shouldn’t have anything to do with whether or not the categories are showing.

Let me guess. Only the categories with posts in them show up right? They do not show up as a category if the post is actually located in a sub cat ? Its a WordPress thing.

Jabbok – like Michael says, it’s not the css.
Have they ever all displayed ?
Installed a plugin recently that could possibly interfere ?
    Upgraded recently ?

I belive I experienced the same problem. I created many categories for the project I am working on, but initially none of the new categories were viewable. I next when into “comment edit mode” and on the right hand side – there were all the new categories that I created. It was a simple process to select the categories that I wanted my “welcome” message posted to, and on the next refresh all enabled categories became viewable.
I hope this answers your problem (which might have been the same as mine problem was/is… not familiar with the functionings of this very capable script)!

Well, I’ve been looking but I can’t find a “comment edit mode”. How do you get there?

I do NOT have posts in every catagory. There isn’t one in “BlogSwap” yet but there are posts in the other 4 catagories.

Well at least some of those *others* are in fact in a sub cat are they not ?

Root: One category is a sub-category, the rest (4) are main categories.

I haven’t posted to “BlogSwap” so I can’t see it.
I haven’t posted to “Theology” so I can’t see it.
    I have posted to “Ecclesiology” but it’s a sub-cat. so I can’t see it.
That leaves “General” and “Websites” and I CAN see both of those!
LOL…..by george, I think we’ve solved the problem.
    Thanks everyone
