I did a “routine” update of plug ins and immediately got the following error when I tried to go back to my website’s backend:

Catchable fatal error: Argument 2 passed to AddThisAdminUtilities::enqueueNotice() must be an instance of callable, array given, called in /homepages/15/d146612849/htdocs/thesavvylife/wp-content/plugins/addthis/backend/AddThisAmp.php on line 97 and defined in /homepages/15/d146612849/htdocs/thesavvylife/wp-content/plugins/addthis/backend/AddThisAdminUtilities.php on line 33

I get the same error when I try to log in, so I cannot disable plug-ins or even revert to a previously backed up version.

I am using WordPress 5.1.1 but am still using PHP 5.2 (I was in the process of identifying replacement plug-ins to make sure my site would function with PHP 7.2)

How can I get access to my page to diagnose, revert and fix?

    Thank you

    Hi there!

AddThis Support here, we are now aware of this issue and it appears our new update is using a function call that apparently isn’t compatible with any PHP version less than 5.4. With that said, we’re going to try to issue a patch to remedy this as soon as possible.

Do you have access to your WordPress backend files through FTP or Hosting Dashboard? If so, what you can do in the meantime is to manually delete the AddThis plugin files which is located at this file path: /wp-content/plugins/addthis/

Once we’ve released the patch update, I can then let you know to reinstall.

    Thanks,
    Leland

Thanks Leland. I will see if I can access through FTP. If I cannot, I will probably need pointing towards a tutorial on how to do the re-install without being able to access the backend. (I inherited this website and am trying to figure things out as I go along).
Again, thank you for the quick response.

I successfully deleted the AddThis Plugin and can get into my site!
    Thank you very much Leland!
I’ll look forward to the patch, but at least now, I can continue administering my page.
Your quick and helpful reply rocks!

    Hi Kevin,

We just released the patch so it should be all good to go now. You’ll just have to uninstall to access the WP admin.

Let me know if you have any troubles deleting our plugin files!

    Thanks,
    Leland
