• Hi,

    I have a webpage in three different languages; Spanish (es_ES), Galician (gl_ES) and Catalan (ca_ES). And I am using the language localization plugin to translate parts of the pages.

    But, the Catalan version does not work. I have translated and generated a .mo file but there is no change on the website. The spanish and galician versions work great so I am thinking there must be an error with the catalan language file..

    Could this be fixed? Please help! Thanks!

  • Hi @jonisco,

    Here the issue can be that this plugin names the language files as ‘ca_ES.po’ and ‘ca_ES.mo’ for Catalan language. But WordPress core an many plugins use simply ‘ca.po’ and ‘ca.mo’.

    Try to rename your translation files and see if works on this way.

    PD: I think that there is a lack of standardization on language codification because there are translation projects that use language+region for codification (for example: gl_ES) but others translation projects only use the language as code (for example: ca, eu).

    And then, not all plugins are using the same code…

    Cheers!

    @francgaya,

    Thanks for answering this. Very helpful and good to know. Maybe someday translating programs/plugins/anything won’t be so confusing and difficult. But in the meantime I thank you for all the tips you provide ??

    This plugin actually names their .po files like “codestyling-localization-gl_ES.po” and for Catalan “codestyling-localization-ca_ES.po”..

    I have tried renaming them and also exchanging the files to other ones but nothing will work.

    Hello there,

    I’m resurrecting an old thread to point out that since version 3.0 of the plugin we’d like to experiment translations with Transifex:

    https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/simple-calendar

    this should provide an easy to use and practical tool to translate this plugin (no coding skills or external applications required!)

    also, a lot in v. 3.0.0 is changed and the old translations are mostly inadequate (on the positive side, most of the frontend part doesn’t require translations and in fact will support more languages)
