Catagories optimization

I am having trouble with the categories optimization. The interface or layout style for categories layout is very bad for yoast. Yoast is not doing its work for categories only. rest is good.
But for tag yoast is working good. and I can optimize tags. But not categories.
If any one can help.because its been 5 months or so I am using WordPress and overall it is very good and powerful.
