Catablog not appearing

    The catablog library categories on my WordPress site are no longer appearing.

    I have not updated to WordPress 4.0. I’m using WordPress 3.6 and Catablog version 1.6.4. I tried updating the plugin to 1.6.5, but it won’t let me. When I click “update now” on my plugins page, it brings me to a new page that says:

    Each country is supposed to have a group of headshots of students. They aren’t appearing even though they’re entered into the Catablog library in the WP dashboard. They used to appear, and only disappeared recently today.

    Do you know what the issue could be and/or a possible solution?

    I looked into this further and it looks like for some reason the “Categories” have disappeared. It says “You currently have no categories.” in the sidebar of an Edit Catablog Entry page.

    I try remaking the categories, but as soon as I click “Save”, the entry page reloads and the new categories are gone.

    Also, at the top of the Catablog pages in the dashboard there’s an alert message that says:

    “CataBlog options and directories have been successfully installed. Please, refresh now.”

    I click refresh now and it reloads the page, but nothing changes.

    Do you know what could be going on with the categories?

    Hi gogenny, sorry to hear that you are having many problems with updating CataBlog. However your WordPress version is very old and that can cause lots of problems apart from being old it is very unsafe. You should try and upgrade your WordPress before attempting to upgrade any plugin including this one.

    You should also make sure that all your plugins and the theme are compatible with WordPress 4.0 if you decide to upgrade.

    I would try to reset CataBlog, but before you do that:

    You can export the catablog library from within the CataBlog Options, when doing this make sure to check the exported file actually contains your library data. Also, don’t forget to copy the images from your wp-content/uploads/catablog directory too.

    After you have a complete backup, then, simply reset CataBlog in the CataBlog Option’s Systems tab and import your previous export.
