    — UPDATE —

I’ve swapped [show_wp_shopping_cart] for [always_show_wp_shopping_cart] and now whenever I’m on the cart page I get the empty cart notification with the link to go back to the store, even if I just added a product to my cart!

Hi can enable debug mode and check the log file.

As mentioned above, the debugging log file isn’t reporting anything.

I just double checked to be sure (and ran all operations possible), still nothing.

Hi can you create a test page or post but don’t publish. Add both shortcodes, the product shortcode and the cart shortcode and check to see if the same occurs. If it does can you deactivate all your other plugins and test again.

Had to turn off the “Automatic redirection to checkout page” feature to do so, but it then worked on the same page! Using the automatic redirection causes it to push to the cart page with the same issue.

I did recently (and absent-mindedly) setup a subdomain in the directory sinnerstosaints.com/store while the products page (and parent of cart) is also directed at sinnerstosaints.com/store. I at one point tested that as an issue by renaming the subdomain directory as well as the products page(s) to avoid any conflict and didn’t have any luck, could this be part of the issue?

Good to know the plugin is working properly, but now how do we find out where the bug is in the automatic redirection process to get it back on its feet? Thank you for your help!

Yes your redirect can cause this issue. What URL do you have set up in Products Page URL field?

Did you by any chance install the plugin in the sub-domain? Or are you running the plugin from your domain https://www.sinnerstosaints.com/?

    Thread Starter jumplikeaginger

    (@jumplikeaginger)

Negative – the plugin is installed on the main domain, there’s nothing but a fresh wp install on the sub domain. Had the plugin up and working before the sub domain and I’m not positive that it stopped working immediately after I set up the sub (I just noticed today!)

The subdomain is causing this issue. Have you tried to create a store category and added your cart in that page or post? Or simply create another page and add the shortcode in that page. Then everything will work without an issue.

I tried both with no luck, still having the same issues. I’ve also deleted the sinnerstosaints.com/store directory (where that particular subdomain was rooted) as well as removed it from the domain’s hosting service. Still observing the same behaviour.

I do have one other subdomain setup and running in a similar fashion, but it’s name and setup has absolutely nothing to do with the store, so I don’t think it should be crossing streams or interfering at all (unless I’m ignorant of something there).

    Any other recommendations?

Disable all your other plugins except this one and carry out another test. If that does not work try to disable the plugin and enable it again.

Also check your .htaccess file and make sure there are no anomalies in the file. Speak to your host about this issue.

You could as a last resort delete the plugin and install it again. Create a backup just in case something goes wrong.

Do you have a cache plugin installed? If you do, is it set up correctly to allow your shopping cart to function properly.

So I can NOT believe I overlooked this, should’ve been one of the first things I checked after verifying it wasn’t a plugin or theme issue.

PHP memory limit – boosted to 128 MB, runs like a dream.

Thanks for your help on trudging through this. Closing topic, solved.

Hi that is great news ?? I also should have asked you first about you memory limit. Now that you know that you needed more memory, I would increase it to 256 MB. This will prevent any issues in the future. Remember WordPress, Theme plus plugins will use up plenty of resources.

Will do – thanks again for your help! Can’t believe we missed that one. Oh well!
