Cart not empty after PayPal checkout and paid for

Yes I do have a cache plugin. WP Fastest Cache and empty/delete when I work on the website.

I found that I had checked the setting “clear the cart once the purchaser goes to the thank you page”. I discovered yesterday that to go to the thank you page is not automatic, it is a click on PayPal’s payment receipt “return to . . . . . “.

I myself seldom or never go back to the vendor if it doesn’t automatically send me back and if I have left the vendor’s site to pay for the items. I simply close the payment/PayPal transaction.

I unchecked the “thank-you page” clear the cart setting and it seems to be working?now.

Does this make this issue resolved? It does but I sure would like the plugin to automatically go to a thank you page and or the empty cart.

The following explains how PayPal allows the return URL field to work.

1) Customer pays via their PayPal account -> They get auto-redirected to the thank you page. This can be set up in the plugin.

2) Custom pays via a credit card -> They see the payment confirmation -> Then they click on the thank you page link on that page to get redirected. Make sure you have entered a URL in the following field Return URL. This is located in Simple Cart -> Settings -> General Settings.

It makes sense but I do not agree with it.

The cart holds the items, does not clear them AT ALL if a credit card (not PayPal) is used and the RETURN/THANK YOU is checked in WP Simple Cart settings.

This is a PayPal issue wanting the customer to sign up for a PayPal account at our expense.

Because the customer did not use PayPal, they do not get a thank-you screen. That is just wrong.

I have a second support ticket about orders not being recorded in “Cart Orders” can you help with that?

The cart not emptying is resolved. The cart will not clear out and the thank you page will not be provided by PayPal unless PayPal is used to pay for the order. I have resolved it by not “ticking” the “clear cart only when the customer lands on the thank you page” choice in WP Simple Shopping Cart Settings.
