I just noticed the cart icon in the header doesn’t link to the cart page to show what’s in the cart. It was working since I installed the theme but I just noticed nothing happens when it’s clicked. Not sure how long it hasn’t worked since I just noticed it.

I have WordPress 6.5 running because 6.6 broke my site but I don’t think that is the issue. Has anyone else had this same issue? It does count the items in the cart, it just isn’t clickable anymore for some reason.

    All help is appreciated.

Any update devs? This is happening on multiple sites.

@cookie1974 I’ve found nothing. It kind of halfway works for me, just the link doesn’t open. The cursor turns into the pointed finger but when I click nothing happens. I had no idea it stopped working at 4.7.0, I thought it just happened on the 2nd or 3rd update ago. 6.6 destroyed my site completely so I reverted back to 6.5. I thought maybe that would also fix the cart link nut it didn’t.

    Hi everyone,

Well, instead of bug, actually this is the expected behavior of the Cart icon when you have the Cart Click Action as Dropdown. We intentionally did it since v4.7.2 when we introduced Responsive Cart Click Action. Refer to this screenshot, please.

From a UX perspective, adding a link to the cart icon, as done in the older version, is not ideal because we are already providing a dropdown. That’s why we have disabled that link.

FYI, we decided to make the change as we received feedback from other users for the same.

I hope that clarifies and clears any confusion you may have.

@mfghost, since this is not an issue, please mark this thread as Resolved.

    Kind regards,

Thank you for the reply, but to say it’s not ideal from a UX perspective is highly contentious. Plenty of us UX designers on here would disagree. We have evidence from users who have complained that they cannot click through on that icon.

Surely just making it a switchable option is sensible, right?

That cart icon in the primary nav definitely needs to take the user to the cart page when clicked. With the current configuration, the user is left “hanging”… they have to take additional action to get through to the site’s primary action (complete a purchase).

As there are use cases for both behaviours, please add an checkbox option so we can make the cart icon clickable again (as it should be).

@bsfherman thanks for the response. I’m not sure I completely understand though, is there any way to make the cart icon clickable on the desktop version? I viewed the screenshot but I’m not sure that explains how to allow users to click the cart to open it. It appears to be for mobile view. On my website I use it for easy access to the cart so customers can remove something or add more of a product already added. Is there any way I can edit some code to make it work? I don’t want to have my customers think the site is not fully functional. Thank you.

    Hi @mfghost,

You can use either Slide-in or Cart Page. Refer to this screenshot, please.

    @cookie1974 / @headwall,

    switchable option / checkbox option

I’ll bring this to the team. Thanks for the insight!

I found a fix for the cart icon not linking to the cart page, only now the cart on the mobile menu doesn’t link to the cart page.

I tried to apply the same fix- just go into “customize” and delete the cart from the header then re-add the cart and that makes it work fine for desktop. Only that fix doesn’t seem to work on the phone. This leaves the customer stuck. I did add a “cart” link in the dropdown but that will only work if the customer finds it or already knows its there.

Has anyone else found or know of a fix? All help is appreciated.

    Hi @mfghost,

I would like to clarify that this is not an issue. Despite you guys do not satisfy with the Cart behavior, we made it that way.

Anyway, FYI, there’s an internal discussion regarding this. We haven’t decided how we will go, however, indeed we have started thinking of reverting the change we made.

    Kind regards,
    Herman ??
