    On https://rentfreegascylinders.co.uk :

When adding a product to the basket and clicking cart button it shows Royal Mail Live Rate options instead of ‘Shipping costs are calculated during checkout’ which is supposed to show.

Woocommerce has ‘Hide shipping costs until an address is entered.’ ticked.

    On https://bbqgasbottles.co.uk :

When adding a product to the basket and clicking cart button it shows the correct message: ‘Shipping costs are calculated during checkout’ which it is supposed to show.

Woocommerce has ‘Hide shipping costs until an address is entered.’ ticked.

Both sites are the same but the rentfree one shows the wrong message.

  • Hi @3bsstudio , thank you for reaching out to us.

If you have set with WooCommerce an option ‘Hide shipping costs until an address is entered.’ ticked, but it doesn’t work in the cart, I would encourage you contact with the WooCommerce support. Our plugin shows live rates in the cart and checkout. It doesn’t have an option that would hide live rates and show a message. It is WooCommerce which is responsible for showing the message in the cart.

Any idea why it works OK on one site and not on the other?

I have set up a staging site for rentfree and have deactivated all plugins apart from woocommerce and Royal Mail Lives Rates and I still don’t get the ‘Shipping costs are calculated during checkout’ message unless I de-activate Royal Mail Lives Rates.

You probably don’t get the message because WooCommerce finds shipping methods. If you deactivate Royal Mail and there are no other shipping method in the shipping zone then WooCommerce won’t show any shipping method. It really hard to say, why the message doesn’t show up if we don’t know the exact settings on your WooCommerce and the plugin that you are using for showing that message. Should this message be shown based on some condition or always?

The ‘Hide shipping costs until an address is entered‘ should override any shipping options from showing. Basically it’s saying we’re not showing you any options until you put in your address. It’s native WC, there’s no plug-in to show this message.

Okey, so if it’s WC native option, then it is WC responsibility to hide it. However, it doesn’t and Royal Mail rates are shown. That’s why please contact directly with WC support. They will have more knowledge about WC mechanism as it’s their plugin and should be able to help you with this. From our side, it’s not something what our plugin is responsible for. It does what it should – shows live rates. So, if you are using WC for hiding it, but it doesn’t work, then it has to be explained with WC.

I’m getting zero response from WC as it’s not a paid for extension therefore I have to go through the forum – the same as this and they are not responding.

Any other way I can contact them?

I am sorry, but I don’t know any other ways how to contact them. Can you tr to contact them directly via their website?

As I said, it’s not a paid for extension therefore all I get is: Note that we only provide support through this form for products offered on?WooCommerce.com. If you only use WooCommerce core and/or need help with extensions sold on other platforms, please use the?forums?as we won’t be able to help by email.

I have to use WC, obviously, so looks like I will have to find an alternative to your plugin that will work. I think WC have a Royal Mail plugin that I will have a look at.

Not ideal, but what choice do I have.

You said that it works on one site and the problem is with the other one. Did you compare your settings? Maybe you are using some other plugin on that second page, which causes that. Our plugins usually don’t go into conflict with plugins from WC. I hope you will find a solution for this situation. Good luck!

Finally got hold of WC who say that because WC works fine when your plugin is deactivated, then it’s your plugin that is the issue.
They recommend we look at their own Royal Mail plugin instead to see if that works better.

Hi, I have consulted this with my team and we think that it might be the cache issue. You see, the rates are shown for the address that was provided before and it was remembered by the WooCommerce. Please try to test it in the incognito version while not logged in to any account.

Still have the same issue. Using Incognito mode but still it displays the Royal Mail Live rates instead of ‘Shipping costs are calculated during checkout’.

    Try yourself, go to:
    https://rentfreegascylinders.co.uk/shop/winter-fuels/gbd-kiln-dried-birch-kindling-fire-lighting-wood-4kg-netted/
and add to the basket, then view basket and see what it says.

I know I said before we had another website where it was working OK – turns out the same thing is happening here too. https://bbqgasbottles.co.uk has exactly the same issue.

Please try it with WooCommerce flat rate. Add a flat rate and see if the problem occurs then. Please let us know about the result.
