Card Testing Attacks with WooCommerce Stripe Payments

    We’ve noticed suspicious activity on our site suggesting a potential Card Testing attack—multiple failed payment attempts in a short period. Could you provide guidance on the following to help mitigate this issue?

    Any recommendations on securing our store would be greatly appreciated.

  • Shame WC and payment plugins don’t offer this for free. Instead these attacks can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars in swipe fees for all the declined transactions. From experience I will say:

    The paid anti fraud plugin (Woocommerce Fraud Protection Plugin) from theDotStore doeesn’t work. I tried to work with their support to fix it, then they do but don’t include the fix in new releases. Avoid this apparent popular anti-fraud plugin for this purpose because it doesn’t work and they aren’t inclined to include a permanent fix for it either.

    The free plugin called WC Checkout Rate Limiter https://github.com/brianhenryie/bh-wc-checkout-rate-limiter/ helps a lot by throttling checkout attempts. Best of all it’s free.
