• Hi there,

I can’t find the root cause to this. But, caption stopped working in this post I’m working on. Some pictures have been captioned successfully, so I can’t explain the inconsistency.

When I try to Edit the image to add a caption, the value doesn’t seem to persist — if I reopen to Edit again, the value I just added disappeared. This caused there to be no [caption] generated around that image.

What am I missing? Is the post too long? How do I make captioning work without having to hack the HTML code?

I’ve tried everything I know to trouble shoot. Updated all plugins. Cleared cache. Tried multiple browsers and multiple computers.

Thanks for the help in advance.

  • What happens if you:

    – temporarily reduce the size of the post by 50%?

    – deactivate all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switch to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

reset the plugins folder by PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-upload all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.
