    I just had the same issue. Somehow with a recent update to the plugin the permissions for the ‘cache’ folder were reset.

    Check the plugin’s ‘Advanced’ tab and see if you get a warning about this.

    I had to set permissions to 777 and the CAPTCHA is back to normal on all forms.

    THANK YOU so much for this. I didn’t see the error message in the Advanced settings until you pointed it out, and changing the permissions to 777 on the cache directory did indeed fix the problem.

    I’m having this problem too, but I don’t see an Advanced tab. Can someone tell me where to find this?
