Capabilities vs Roles

We like to implement our own role system in our many WordPress installations, only InfiniteWP does not support users that are not ‘Administrator’ to connect and update plugins.
Our intent is to give the users the idea that they are ‘Administrator’ and instead make a role for ourselves, the ‘real’ administrators.
We are willing to supply code for this functionality because we don’t want to fork the plugin.
