Canvas 5.3 – change calendar color and other changes

Hi,
I’ve got a fun website I created for a group of flight sim guys, which is called Jagdverband44 . I’ve added the calendar in the footer, but it is hard to read. Where do I change the color for the calendar in the dashboard? Additionally, I’d like to change the color of the “author” and “tags” when I make a new post. Again, can this be found in the dashboard?

Another issue I forgot to mention is the use of the magazine slider. When first viewing the website, the magazine slider doesn’t appear. However, if I click on “latest news”, the post page, the slider will work. Additionally, I’ve noticed that the link is blue afterwards? Does the blue hover color indicate the current page? Also, I’ve noticed that in the menu, the text within the menu bar will disappear. It seems to only happen on the “latest news” and “contact the staff” pages. Again, is there something I’m missing in the dashboard?

The final question: Is there a complete user guide describing each setting and what it does? It seems that I’m just guessing most of the time when I’m trying to change simple things in the dashboard.
