Greetings! I started a post, wrote a couple of sentences, then inseted a picture. But when I tried to add more text beside or below the picture I couldn’t. I could only write above the picture. Do I need a fancy editor plugin? If so, which one?

Is that how folks lay up such nice looking posts with lots of styilized text and several pics? Thanks, Nick

No. This is not default behaviour for WordPress.

Are you running any plugins? Have you tried deactivating them?

Here are the plugins I’m using. In your experience, do you recognize any of them as causing a problem with WP? A friend recommended I use these. Also, I am deactivating them now to test the post editor.

    AddThis Social Bookmarking Widget
    Akismet
    All in One SEO Pack
    FD Feedburner Plugin
    Google XML Sitemaps
    HeadSpace2
    WordPress Database Backup
    WP Simple Adsense Insertion
    WP Super Cache

Some of the social bookmarking plugins have caused problems in 2.8. Can’t recall if HeadSpace2 had any issues. Akismet & Google XML Sitemaps should be fine. However, sometimes, it’s not so much 1 bad plugin as 2 plugins conflicting with one another.

Deactivating the lot and then testing is definitely the way to start troubleshooting.

I deactivated all of the plugins. Still the same problem. But, I discovered if I laid down the text first and then inserted a pic into the text it worked better. Not exactly WYSIWYG but workable.

Is it possible to lay up your post in an external editor and then paste it into the post editor? Thanks again for all your help!! Nick

Yes it is – although you need to use a plain text editor or Windows Live Writer. Don’t use Word or another word processor. They can cause all kinds of problems.
