• Hey there,

Fresh install of WP, no plugins installed and I am having a problem right out of the box. I’ve probably installed WP over 200 times but have never seen this before.

When I go to Menus under Appearance, I type in Primary to create a new menu, click the Create Menu button, and it brings me right back to the same page, like there was no menu created. I then try to type in Primary again and it gives me an error that it conflicts with another menu of the same name.

I’ve tried typing in different names, used different browsers, still get the same result.

The new site is candencedance.com, in the same hosting package I have probably 10 other WP installs.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Chelsea

    – try switching to the unedited default Twenty Fifteen theme for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).
    – If that does not resolve the issue, try resetting the plugins foldervia FTP or SFTP or whatever file management application your host provides. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
    – If all the above steps do not resolve the issue, then try MANUAL updating. Download a fresh copy of the WordPress .zip file to your computer, unzip it, and use that to copy up all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory. You may need to delete the old copies of files & folder on your server before uploading the new ones. Read the <a href=”https://codex.www.remarpro.com

Okay, so I don’t think you read my previous post in its entirety. Fresh install of WP, no themes installed, no plugins.

But for $hit$ and giggles, I tried to reset plugin folder and that did not work.

I had already tried uploading newest version of WP as well, and that did not help.

So, I deleted the MySQL database and made a new one. Deleted all the wordpress files from the server and uploaded new ones…

And I am having the same exact problem. I can’t create menus.

    Please help!

    What’s the site URL?

Try adding define('CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS', false); to your wp-config.php file just below the define(‘DB_HOST’ line.

To do so, access your server via FTP or SFTP and edit the file with a plain text editor.
