• I just upgraded to 3.5 and ever since I can no longer view anything in “visual” mode. I only get the “text” (HTML) mode now.

I’ve checked this on 3 different browsers, so I know it’s a WP issue, not with my browsers.

Anyone have a solution? Is there an easy way to roll back to the prior version somehow? Everything worked fine up until this….

    THanks

  • Have you tried:
    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the 2010 theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

You could also do a manual update. Ensure that you updated ALL of the WordPress files.

Thank you. All plugins are (for some reason) deactivated already. When I try to activate ANY of them, I get the following bizarre error message:

“You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘TYPE=MyISAM’ at line 9 on line: 1473”

I contact my web host to find out if they knew what to do about that, and they said it has to do with the specific plugin software. But ALL of them? They can’t all have the same manual.

This is a disaster. None of my plugins work now and I can’t type in WYSYWIG….

Any further guidance would be appreciated.

    THanks,
    Mark

OK, I seem to be able to activate the plugins. I am getting that error message, but the plugin DOES get activated. In any event, I still can’t view visual mode. You referred to a 2010 theme. Do you mean a 2010 version of WordPress? I am using a Genesis child theme, but it hasn’t changed at all.

Same problem for me. Can’t edit in Visual, only HTML, which is a tragedy for a non-coder like me. Tried Firefox, IE8, and Chrome. No go. It says “Error on Page” at the bottom of my IE8 screen. PLEASE HELP!

Deactivating the plugin: CKEditor for WordPress solved my problem.
