Can’t verify site with Google

Hi – hope this is the right forum as my search only seemed to bring up topics related to specific plug-ins.

I’ve been trying to get Google to verify my site by following the directions on this page: https://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/ off and on for the past couple of months, and I continually get the “We couldn’t find the verification meta tag.” error. I see the code in the header of my page https://www.doitwrite.ca, so I can’t figure out what the issue might be.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
