Can't use slug after permanent deleting old post

    I have a post which I have permanently deleted and when I try and use that slug again it doesn’t allow me to and comes up with a pagename2.

    I’ve read other comments of people who’ve had a similar problem on here. I recognise that WP seems to think this page exists still.

    After backing up the Database, how do I go into it to make the change. Where do I access the database? What changes do I need to make?

    Appreciate your thoughts…

    Maybe a silly question but when you say permanently deleted do you mean you emptied your trash too?

    I had this problem before and as long as the posts were still in the trash folder WordPress was still holding those names in the database.
