• I’m unable to upload a 1.2 mb mp4 video, but it uploads a 4 mb PDF just fine. It appears to hang in Safari (it’s an old version), and Chrome tells me the link is broken when the file has “finished” uploading, even though I had to go to media-new.php to upload it to begin with. I just added a couple plug-ins that should add mp4 support, if that was the issue, but it still isn’t working.

I’ve done a lot of searching already and can’t find a fix. I just started using WP, new installation. PHP version is up-to-date, custom theme, only added plug-ins are the two aforementioned. Suggestions like adding a script to the config file, or changing the permissions on wp-content to 777 did not work. I’ve cleared my cache, restarted the browser, tried three different browsers.

    Please help!

  • Is the content of the mp4 protected/copyrighted?

Good question… I didn’t create it; it’s my client’s. Other files on my Mac say “protected MPEG-4 movie” and this one doesn’t say “protected”, nor does it say so in the codecs list in the Info pane. It definitely doesn’t work with a protected file; it worked with an unprotected m4a audio file. Am I missing something?

Yes. There are many ‘techniques used to protect protected content, the least of which is an OS acknowledgment of such.

Create a new .mp4 and try to upload that.

Also review the varying types of ‘mp4’

Thanks, I’ll give that a try.
