Can’t upload to media library

  • I try to upload photos into media library, the photo appears to upload fully but there is an error at the end:

    Post-processing of the image failed. If this is a photo or a large image, please scale it down to 2500 pixels and upload it again.

    The photo is not excessively large. In fact, I have tried to upload photos which have previously uploaded successfully and get the same message.

    I have tried the standard fixes (clear cache, deactivate plugins). I am using chrome for android. This has been happening since at least ten days ago.
