• I’m using Serverpress local and remote server and the site is currently appended with a .dev while in testing. everytime I try to upload an image into the customize header image feature to test it I get the following error message:

    Error outlawlogo.png
An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later.

The media later does appear in the library, but will not allow itself to be inserted into the logo area, widget area or posts. What gives?!

  • Updates and changes may cause problems.

If the changes you made could be the cause: restore to a previous state and check the result. If need be, find the corrections needed [e.g. correct syntax] and try again…

If that is not the case:
Plugins and updates may cause problems. Try this:

    1. Use FTP to access your site
      e.g. https://filezilla-project.org/download.php
    2. rename all plugins by putting a ‘0’ in front of each plugin -folder;
      ../wp-content/plugins
    3. Check if the access / ‘normal functioning’ has been restored
    4. If so: one-by-one, remove the ‘0’, checking every time to see if the problem re-occurs.
    5. when the problem re-occurs, you’ve found the source of the problem; Delete and find a similar plugin that works with your site
    6. alternatively: FTP:Delete; Then download and install / activate a NEW version of the problematic plugin and see if this works.

    Alternatively:
Instead of ftp, use the webaccess dashboard functions provided by the webhost.
This usually is not as versatile and more cumbersome.

THanks for the response! No plugins are installed. I uninstalled all of them, because I am running wordpress in a development mode and the site is not yet visible. It’s appended to a .dev url which is the default when using ServerPress to work on files between dreamweaver and wordpress.

I did reinstall the latest version of wordpress – but that’s not fixing the problem either. The media library allows me to upload files, but doesn’t show them as completed. Later I can see them in the library, but I cannot APPLY them to anything. I get an error code mentioned above.

What I need to know is if this is because it’s in development mode? My understanding is the CMS is still operative, but the website doesn’t have a public facing URL.

Does anyone else have experience with this?

You could check by taking it out of development mode and test???
