• I was setting my blog (I had a Drupal site and now I’m configuring a WP one) and when I went to upload images, I got a message saying:

Are you sure you want to do this? Please try again. (as a link)

When I click in the link, it sends me to the admin area (again) and if I click upload again, it show the same message. I’ve used the uploader before (setting mine friend’s site in WP) and know how it works. For whatever reason it doesn’t want to work in mine.

This is a clean instal and I’m adding all the content myself (not messing with database). I’ve installed the 2.9.2 version and have been mostly setting my theme. It was the first time I’ve tried upload any image in my own site.

I’ve tried swapping to the default theme and another theme I’ve downloaded before, but to no success. I have no plugin installed, so I can’t switch them off and try again.

    Any help please? Thanks!

  • Do you have any .htaccess files on the server from your old Drupal site?

Currently I still have my drupal site working. I’ve installed WP in a subdirectory and created a database for it. So yes, I still have the .htaccess file. Why? Do I need to do something about it?

I’ve seen an existing Drupal install in root cause problems for a sub-dir WP install before. Your .htaccess file root may be part (if not all) of the problem.

Any ideas of what I could do?

Could you try temporarily renaming your root .htaccess file to see if it is causing a problem?

Well, I’ve tried changing it’s name, deleting but nothing. The problem still persists… Any more suggestions? And thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

I’ve installed a second blog in my domain (using a subdomain and separate database) and in this second blog, the upload function does work. How weird is that? I don’t know what else to do… getting a bit desperate now. Any more suggestions? Anyone?

    Thanks

Did you manage to fix this issue? I’m having the same issue with WordPress 2.9.2. When I try to upload an image from wp-admin/media-new.php, I get the same error.

The only difference is that I didn’t have anything installed on this server before, and I was able to successfully upload one image a while back before I ran into this problem.

Edit: figured it out, the file was bigger than the server’s max upload size.

just try in different web browser…sometimes it may work

We are working with example.ca to launch a WordPress blog. We have tried to install it in a sub-directory of the url example.ca which is in Drupal, called example.ca/blog but we are having issues with images and embedded links that do work or display. The install was done through cpanel and Fantastico. I have searched for answers to this and it might be something to do with index.php and .htaccess files that are part of the root directory? Can this be fixed or do we need to move the blog into a sub domain?
