Can't upload images to the Media Library

I have not been able to upload any images to the WordPress Media Library, using version 3.6. I keep getting an error that states: “imagename.jpg” has failed to upload due to an error
Failed to write file to disk or Error saving media attachment.

I have tried the following steps listed below and am still unable to upload anything to the Media Library regardless of file type (jpg, gif, png etc.) or file size (2kb 4kb etc.)

1)I have deactivated all plugins.
2)I have deleted all plugins via ftp
3)I have deactivated my custom theme and switched to default Twenty Twelve theme
4)I have deleted my custom theme files completely
5)I have cleared my browsers cache and then tried uploading images to the site afterwards

None of these actions has allowed me to be able to upload images to the library.

I have searched the forum for other options but have not found any.

If anyone has any alternatives I should try before doing a complete re-install of wordpress, possibly to an earlier version, I’d greatly appreciate it.
