Can’t Upload Images

    Hello,
    I am using Ubuntu Linux 16.04.1, Apache 2.4.18 and PHP5.6 (tested 7.01 as well) on a rented VPS.
    I have pointed the main domain to var/www/blog which is a link from /usr/share/wordpress, owned by www-data user (made a test even with 777).

    I am trying to upload images in the Media Library, but the files are not showing at all in the folder.

    No errors in the interface, the only one is the “Not_found” one related to the Thumbnail .. normal I would say … as there is no file to be resized .. so no Thumbnail to be showed.

    Any hints ?

    Hi, I tested even with 777 as mentioned above.

    check in wp directory file is uploading or not.
    So we know that issue with upload or display

    Hi, maybe I was not clear … “but the files are not showing at all in the folder” … means that the images are not in the folder on the disk.

    Deactivate all plug-in and use default theme and after that try to upload image and make sure user has write permission.

    Hey, I’ve got the similar problem. Try to find it in some other folder. I can’t manage to upload to the old place, all the time it uploads to the new folder on the core.

    I don’t know what to do but it seems unfixable.

    Yes, I forgot to mention – I tried vanilla without any plugins -> same issue
    Either is something in my Apache or PHP vs how wordpress works.
    I have also phpBB setup as a sub-domain and for example the avatar upload is working there.

    @dypnord, that’s quite strange indeed.
    I will keep looking, but I am already tired of investigating this issue ?? … especially that phpbb works fine with uploads on the same server ?? .. so I am not sure what to change/test next

    .. one more thing – even the for themes .. i have to copy them in the plugin folder first, and then install them from the web-interface … same type of issue …

    So,
    I installed “Add From Server” plugin just to see if this will be a decent workaround .. AND .. surprise .. it shows the real upload directory, and @dypnord you are right .. it seems like the folder is actually /var/lib/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/ and not /urs/share/worldpress/uploads/ where I installed wordpress and where … worldpress is checking for the files

    So, seems like a bug, not sure when/whow it happens, but wordpress uploads into a folder and tries to use the files from another folder … maybe I installed it in a way that is not supported !?

    A few minutes later – ‘fixed’ with
    sudo ln -s /var/lib/wordpress/wp-content /usr/share/wordpress

    Doe anyone knows why the ubuntu wordpress package has this ‘strange’split between the content and root ?

    PS: I will probably reinstall from the standard wordpress files without using a package ….
