• Cannot upload images with my posts. It crunches the file and I just get this message…

The uploaded file could not be moved to /hsphere/local/home/hs21657/trendspot.ie/blog/wp-content/uploads.

Never had this problem before so I’m totally lost!

    Thanks,

    Colin

Thank you very much samboll. Worked perfectly.

    I have this problem too

    look:

Unable to create directory /var/www/vhosts/myblog.com/httpdocs/wp-content/uploads/2009/05. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

    uploads is 777 chmod

I need to change path root? /var/www/vhosts/myblog.com/httpdocs/wp-content/uploads/

    cstrike
no just chmod 777 the /uploads/2009/05 – all three
    then do an upload
you should be able to chmod back to 755 after that

    Hi, evebody, please help.
    I have the similar problem.

When I wanna to upload some images – I get this message:

Unable to create directory /home/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2010/01. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

I have to set 777 chmod for all directories of rhe “uploads” directory, but it wasn’t help.

    What can you advise?

    Thanks,

    Evgen

I think you have to create all directories for the years and months by hand in advance, it’s a bug that prevents wp from creating the directory.

You can try turning of the year/month folder from the control panel

I had to chmod my wordpress folder to 777 while uploading, there was no other way to do it. Just chmod it back to 755 when your done or anyone on the server can modify you wp files

Hi, I am having the same problem, the error message is:

Unable to create directory /www//wp-content/uploads/2010/05. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

I changed the permissions to 777 on every folder in the path and still no good, has anyone found another way to resolve this issue please?

You might want to check with your webhost. I actually had this same issue and contacted my host, turns our their hard drive was over quota, so there wasn’t anymore room for new files. They cleaned up on their end and I’m uploading perfectly now.
