Can’t upload “Enter the URL of the image” in comments

Just tried that. I can click on “img” when editing a comment in wp-admin, get the dialog with the input field, can paste the URL of an image into it and then close the dialog. Then I save the comment and see the image in it in the frontend.

At which point exactly does it fail for you?
Have you deactivated all plugins to exclude an influence of these?

While in as wp-admin i click on edit of a comment, then i click on img, paste the URL, click ok, then update. No URL shows up. Been doing this in this site for a few years and never had a problem. I deactivated all plugins and that made no difference.

Sounds more like a problem with the URL. Try this one: https://picsum.photos/536/354 (belongs to https://picsum.photos). If that’s the case, you’re welcome to name the URL you’re using here so that we can see what’s wrong there.

Thanks for the offer, i have tried several different URL’s, stock pic’s also tried different comments in the thread with no change. What could the problem be?

But other images that are local to you are displayed?

Do you have any security plugin installed? That could possibly set HTTP headers that prevent loading from external sources. This could also be set by the server.

A link to the page could help to detect this for you.

I once called up a random post and see a lot of pictures in the comments there. e.g. at “ve3twr-news-and-updates”. Have you used a different browser? Maybe in private mode?

Hi, same browser, tried on a different computer, no luck. With each comment on the site, a “gif” or pic is added to add a comical effect. The last 5 comments i haven’t been able to add with a image . Like i said, been doing it to every other comment for a few years. Didn’t change anything, this just started yesterday.
I also tried a different browser, still no luck.

Thanks for offering to try and help solve my issue. I’m a senior citizen and illiterate when it comes to computers, i had someone set up this site for me and now i just run it.
What can you suggest i do at this point to try and resolve my problem?
Is there a way to get help from WordPress?

Ok, i use BlueHost, are suggesting i call them and ask for help with WP?

I have looked into this and this is an issue with WordPress.
 
I have noticed this issue on several other websites.
 
As a workaround, we can install a plugin to add images in the comment, please see the below plugin:

AFFORDABLE WORDPRESS SUPPORT

This plugin would allow your visitors to add images to their comment. You would then no longer do this. Would be a change compared to how you currently deal with comments and not purposeful.

By the way, it’s not a bug of wordpress (as formulated by them) that this is not possible for users – it’s intentional the way it is.

This is really frustrating. Can you recommend someone that will log into my site and try to fix my problem?
