I can’t upload any media (sound file, video, picasa file, image) to my wordpress posts. If I click on the icon above the post I’m editing nothing at all happens. I understand that I have to change the format in permissions to 777 but how do I get there. I’ve read all the support blogs, and I can’t access anything remotely, regarding what they are talking about.
Given this information where do I start from to solve this problem.

  • Are you using a control panel for your hosting account like cPanel or Plesk? If so, you can go to the file manager and change a permission for the uploads folder.

Hi I have been formatting everything from what I can find in my WordPress dashboard. I’m going now to the cPanel to see what I can find there

I’ve now gone to my cPanel to wp-content the permissions on upload were 644, I can access that. Also the plugin in permission was 755 for all plugins.
And the icon for permissions was doing exactly what the icons on the post edit page are doing absolutley nothing
I changed all the permissions on the plugins to 777 and that didn’t change things, so I changed them back to 755 so that nothing would go wrong.

try 777 for the uploads folder. if that works, reduce the permissions till they don’t work.

I’ve gone into cPanel acessed wp-content then the uploads folder and changed the permissions on that to 777. It has made no change. Maybe it is something else. Why reasons would the media icons above the post give no reaction when they are clicked?
