• My site is jennaglatzer.com. I’m getting this when I try to upload a new photo to my media section:

“zondervan.jpg” has failed to upload due to an error.
Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/2013/12. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

Yes, it is writable, as far as I understand… it’s all set to 0755. Any thoughts?

  • Try temporarily changing the permissions on /wp-content to 775 or 777 and see if that will allow WordPress to create the directory for the December 2013 content.

Thanks! It didn’t, but when I then changed the uploads file to 777 temporarily, that worked.

You’re welcome, glad it worked for you!

I set wp-content/uploads/ to 777 and it didn’t help. I did the same to wp-content/uploads/2013/ and that also didn’t help. I manually created the December directory and mad sure it was 777 too and WordPress still keeps giving me the same message. It seems to me that it is not actually re-checking that the permissions are OK after it failed to upload the first time. Logging out and back in to the console also didn’t work.

    Any hints?
