    Hi!

Suddenly, I can’t update WP in any way. I can’t upgrade to 4.4,2, can’t update a theme which has a new version or add new plug-ins. Every time I try, I get this error from the dashboard:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected end of file, expecting function (T_FUNCTION) in /home/uifnwebm/public_html/uifndrv/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-upgrader.php on line 1119

Anyone know what might be causing this?

    Thanks!

It’s possible that one (or more) core files might be corrupt.

Try downloading WordPress again, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, and delete then replace your copies of everything on the server except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings.

Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

This will also have the bonus benefit or upgrading to you 4.4.2. ??

Okay, thanks! I’ll give it a shot.

I have the same issue. I’m working with a website that was created by someone else and then abandoned. I’m not at all familiar with WordPress and my computer programming skills consist of the first half of a C++ class and self-taught HTML 4. I’ve downloaded WordPress again but I don’t know how to access anything else you’ve mentioned. Sorry.

    Wendy,

The fix described by James Huff probably will work. If it does, I’ll come back here and confirm. Uploading WordPreess should be fairly easy and I can help you, if you want, either by showing you how to do it or by uploading it to your site myself.
