Can't update to latest WP version Receiving "fatal error" memory messages
-
Hello. I’m building a site for my daughter’s yoga business kundaliniyogini.co.uk using the Crucial theme and am encountering the following problems:
Unable to update to 3.5.1 – it gets to the “unpacking” stage and then hangs there indefinitely. (I’ve updated on another WP site of mine and know that this should only take seconds.)
I’m also receiving the following messages whenever I try and do something as simple as add a photo:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 122880 bytes) in /home/cropcirc/public_html/kundaliniyogini.co.uk/wp-includes/class-simplepie.php on line 15207
or
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 8416 bytes) in /home/cropcirc/public_html/kundaliniyogini.co.uk/wp-includes/media.php on line 258
I’ve only got two very small sites set up with my (UK) host and couldn’t possibly be exceeding allocated memory.
I’ve done a search here on the Support forum, and see that others have had this problem – usual solution is to change something through (the host’s?) php file – but I’m not a coder or particularly tech-savvy, and can’t find these files in my CPanel.
I’ve tried deactivating the few plug-ins I’ve installed, but that doesn’t solve the problem.
Would be grateful for any advice as my daughter’s business is launching soon and it’s quite urgent I resolve these problems.
Thanks so much.
