We have categories of products we have set to exclude from Facebook.

These products should still remain on our site with the correct categories.

If I try to update the product I get the warning that the product is in a category that doesn’t sync to facebook. My only options are Cancel (does nothing, can’t update my product) or Go to Settings (to remove the category exclusion).

So there is no way to update the product without removing all categories and saving. But then if we try to assign the category (that is excluded from Facebook sync) it produces the same warning again.

    Hi @chrismccreery!

Thanks so much for writing in with your question! I’ll be happy to help.

Could I ask what version are you currently running of the plugin? The reason I ask is that in the latest release, v1.10.2, we have included a new modal pop up window when saving category exclusions in the plugin settings. You can find this by navigating to WooCommerce > Settings > Integration > Facebook for WooCommerce.

When saving exclusions in this new version, it will now ask you if you want to exclude the products within these categories, or exclude and hide the products from the Facebook shop. In previous versions this modal did not appear, which meant that although the category exclusion was assigned, the products themselves were still set to be synced, causing this mismatch of settings.

This is the error notice that you’ve seen in the screencast. The product itself is still set to be synced, yet the category it belongs to is not, so the plugin asks you to confirm which setting is correct before proceeding. Removing the category would be one way to avoid the issue, or removing the product (in your case, product variations) from being “Included in Facebook sync” would be the other.

Could you please try to make sure you’re running the latest plugin version, and then re-save the category exclusions to select the “Exclude and Hide” option?

    Cheers,

    Simon.

Updated to the latest version and tried to resave the exclusions and select Exclude and hide but it just gives me a spinner and doesn’t seem to finish loading. If I reload the page the exclusions aren’t saved.

Ok I got the Exclude categories working.

But when I now edit the product that is set to be excluded and hidden from Facebook Sync and then save it again it tells me it has been added to facebook and is visible.

Is this actually the case or will it still be hidden and excluded from the sync?

    Thanks,

    Hi @chrismccreery,

That sounds rather strange! When the category has been excluded from sync, and optionally hidden from the shop, saving the product should not activate the sync again unless the setting was chosen.

You can see this setting for a variation product under each individual variation: https://cloud.skyver.ge/p9uKZ6xJ and a similar screen under the Facebook tab item for simple products.

When you were trying to save an update to your product, was this option enabled or disabled?

    Cheers,

    Simon.

Ok I still can’t save a product that is in a category to exclude.

I have the Visible: option unchecked.
Each variation is also set to NOT sync to Facebook.

When I update anything on the product and hit save I get the warning that it won’t sync and my only options are Cancel or Go to Settings.

So far the only thing that works is going and removing the exclusion for that category. Making my changes and saving and then adding the category back to the exclusions.

    Hey @chrismccreery!

Our team here at SkyVerge just recently took over development and support for this plugin. I assure you that our team is hard at work to make sure the plugin works more reliably and more easily going forward! Thanks for the added details here. I’m going to bring this to the attention of my engineers.

For the time being, I’d advise you to keep using the workaround (I know, it sounds like a pain and I’m sorry!), though I’d hope we can get this ironed out sooner than later.

Is there anything else I can help out with here, Chris? Please do let me know!

    Thanks so much.

    Hi @chrismccreery,

Can I also ask what product type you were trying to update, was this a simple product or a variable product? And also, one more question, was this product previously synced, and then excluded through the category settings pop up?

Thanks so much for bearing with us while we look into this further! Could you let me know when you have a moment to pass on this additional information?

    Cheers,

    Simon.

I have the same issue. I can’t Add/Edit or save changes for products that are in excluded categories in my onlinestore. I have no option to disable facebook-sync for these products. only option is to remove the exclude or disable the facebook integration

    Hey @niburu!

Thanks for confirming. Our developers have been working on a fix for variable products that had this issue in an upcoming release.

Could you confirm for me if you were having this issue on all product types, or only variable products?

    Cheers,

    Simon.

I have the same problem. I don’t want all our products synced to Facebook and exclude by categories. If a new product falls in the excluded categories, the plugin will not allow me to add it. From the questions above, the same will happen when I would want to update a product.

Of course this is a bug in the plug-in and should be fixed a.s.a.p. It would also be helpful if we had a tick-box at individual product level that would enable/disable FB sync for that product.

    Thanks!
