    Hello,

I have a problem with updating all plugins on my website. This problem has not been resolved for more than a week now. Every time when I am trying to updated plugins or even open plugins on my dashboard I am getting re-directed to a blank screen with the following messages:

” briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute. “

or “Update failed: Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute”.

or “Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute”.

    ?or Update failed -1

I tried to delete .maintenance file from my FileManager – did not work, it re-appears every time when I am trying to update any of the plugins manually.

I contacted my provider. The answer was to contact WordPress  – this was their detailed reply  to my request to help :

“As for this please check in with wordpress first then let them know that plugins has been disabled and core files has been updated but the maintenance error is still showing please check the wordpress back end and if there is a need to update the php please send which configuration needed”

I am just a web designer, not a developer, please help. Thank you.

Are you using Astra and, perhaps, the Astra Starter Templates plugin? If so, then VIA YOUR HOSTING CONTROL PANEL’S file manager app, navigate to wp-content/plugins and delete the directory for that plugin. Once gone, you should be able to login and update things. Then, you can install the latest version of that plugin, which does not have the bug that blocks updates.

Thank you so much! It worked!

@sterndata Where can I find more information about this bug? I manage 20 or so sites, all of them using Astra and all of them having the same issue Nadinmano faces where I cannot do a ‘bulk’ update of plugins, only able to update them manually.

Ask the Astra folks about this.
