can't update plugins

  • i try to update some plugins or to installed plugins and this is the message that i received:

    Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
    Parse error: parse error, unexpected ‘{‘ in F:\inetpub\vhosts\ssvp.org.my\httpdocs\wordpress\wp-content\plugins\wordpress-23-related-posts-plugin\wp_related_posts.php on line 20

    what does that mean? it means it has something to do with my host server? i have contacted my host but all he said was asked me to set up a new version of wordpress and migrate all data… but this means having to re-do all over again my website, right?… and i don’t know how to do it.

    (btw, same thing happened when try to update wordpress)
