Can't update or re-install Wordfence 5.3.3

    Previously when updating I got this message: Could not copy file. wordfence/images/forward_enabled.jpg Tried several times and got the same message. Then I removed the plugin and tried downloading the plugin again. Still the same message.
    Tried another plugin (Sucuri) and found it wasn’t as good as Wordfence. So I removed that and tried re installing Wordfence again, latest version 5.3.3, but still get the same message.
    Tried putting the download 5.3.3 in FileZilla ftp/plugins: it failed. Tried again to install direct from WP admin. Got another message: Could not copy file. wordfence/images/wordfenceFalcon.png
    I was really happy with Wordfence before I had all this problem of updating, etc. Please help, what should I do to get the plugin to work again for me?

  • What is the error you get when you try to ftp the plugin up? That sounds more like a permissions or lack of space issue. You might ask your web host to try adding it and see if they see an error.

    Hi, thanks for responding so quickly.
    My ftp permissions are: directories 755, files 644.
    My ISP said the plugin problem is not their problem!
    What exactly do you mean by ‘lack of space issue’?

    All is well, thank you.
    Went back to my ISP and another chap helped me upload the Wordfence plugin. I then went back to my WordPress admin and re-installed and activated it.

    For future reference, the file space comment meant that for some reason you might have filled up the available space on your web server.

    I hate you had to call twice to get a decent support provider. ??

    Had the problem of updating for about 3 months, and was getting desperate. So you can see appreciative I am of your help and advice.

    Still can’t update latest WordFence verion.
    Added to that MailPoet plugin can’t sent out newsletters to subscribers and can’t send out test emails to me either (even from “Lost your password” at login). Says they are sent but they haven’t reached the people concerned.
    Why am I blocked out from using WordFence effectively?
    How can I rectify these problems? What settings (options) can I change or tick operational, that will put things right?
    Please: Need answers quickly.
