Can’t update firewall rules – have write access to wflogs – running v7.4.2

Your diagnostics report is missing a lot of information.

Please go to the top of the “Diagnostics” tab on the Wordfence “Tools” page. There will be a “SEND REPORT BY EMAIL” button to send the diagnostics report. Enter wftest [at] wordfence [dot] com as the email and davidg333 as the forum username please.

Once you have emailed the diagnostics report can you reply here to let me know that it has been sent. This is important in the unlikely event that your installation of WordPress is having an issue with sending mail.

Thank you for sending the report.

Can you press the MANUALLY REFRESH RULES button at the bottom of the Advanced Firewall Options section on the All Options page.

If it fails then trim the PHP error log files in the document root directory where WordPress is installed and the wp-admin directory as they are too large to email. The last few hours of the logs will be more than enough. Place both trimmed error_log files in a ZIP file and email as an attachment to wftest [at] wordfence [dot] com.

Make sure to put @davidg333 in the email subject field and let me know here when the email has been sent.

Now make a note of what the Process Owner is in the PHP Environment section on the Wordfence Tools >> Diagnostics page.

Via a command line utility does the Process Owner match the user and group owner on the server for the directory below?

~/wp-content/wflogs

If you don’t know how to check this then please ask your hosting provider to do this for you.

There was one PHP error log file but I don’t know which one as there are two PHP error log files, one for the root directory where WordPress is installed and the other one in the wp-admin directory.

The server output text file showed the ownership for the WordPress wp-content director but not for the wp-content/wflogs subdirectory. Can you ask your hosting support to print the output for the wp-content/wflogs directory please and send to wftest [at] wordfence [dot] com.
