  • Can you share a screenshot of the actual editor? From the tiny bit I can see in your other screenshots it doesn’t look like the classic editor to me.

    Dear Jacob,

It is the Classic Editor. It says so on top of the Post being edited. And, I worked w/ the Bock Editor before.

    As @jakept requested…

This may help us pin this down as the problem doesn’t make much sense considering your mention that the plugin is gone.

And be careful of spelling in your URLs or cut and paste them instead.

    Dear J. Nash,

    Thank you for your reply.

Too late! I deleted and re-created the Post using the Block Editor. And, all is well!

By the way, the author of Classic Editor (in the Classic Editor Forum) acknowledges that there are problems. Maybe the problems are only relevant to the fairly new Twenty Nineteen Theme, which I use. Who knows!

There are no plugin issues that would cause a plugin to run when it’s not installed. You weren’t using the classic editor. When editing posts created with the classic editor the content is put into a “Classic” block. But this is still just a block in the block editor.

You can convert the classic block to regular blocks by opening the three-dot menu to the right of the block, and choosing “Convert to blocks.”
