    Hi Support Team,

    I have a problem. I can’t activate Adsense.

When I try to activate AdSense in the settings and click on “Set up AdSense”, the error message “Internal Server Error – No route was found that is identical to the URL and request method.” appears above it.

Strangely enough, however, Search Console, Analytics and PageSpeed Insights are already connected.

I enabled real-time updating of my log on my web server (CentOS 8 + Plesk Obsidian) and saw that 2 error messages are issued as soon as I click on “Set up AdSense”.

    Error message 1:
Error - My IP address (not the one from the server).
2656#0: *573305 openat() "/var/www/vhosts/domainname/httpdocs/wp-json/google-site-kit/v1/core/modules/data/activation" failed (2: No such file or directory)
    nginx error
    Error message 2:
Error - My IP address (not the one from the server)
    404
    POST /wp-json/google-site-kit/v1/core/modules/data/activation?_locale=user HTTP/2.0
    119 SSL/TLS access for nginx

I hope you can help me

Thank you very much in advance
    Best regards seto76

P.S. I also disabled all plugins except Site Kit and get the same errors. So we can already rule out that it is a collision with other plugins.

    Hi there @seto76,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing details of what you encountering. As you’ve already ruled out other plugins impacting your AdSense setup please share the following information:

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
    2. Does the same occur from a Chrome browser incognito window? In some cases browsers or browser extensions can impact AdSense setup.

If the same does occur from a Chrome browser incognito window please share any console errors that appear on the same screen where this error occurs.

Once we have the above information we can provide some troubleshooting suggestions. As the errors you kindly shared reference a Nginx & SSL error we may need to perform some hosted related checks.

    Hi James,

Thanks for getting back. Nothing changes in the icognito mode. I sent you the Site Health information you requested using the form you provided.

Thank you very much in advance and Merry Christmas.

Thanks for sharing the additional insights. From inspecting your site and checking your Site Health information I don’t see anything unusual with your setup. So we can try to determine more on this can you share the following information:

    1. Do you see any errors or warnings when visiting your Site Health status (Tools > Site Health > Status), which differs to your Site Health information. Any errors relating to your REST API in particular may be useful.
    2. Can you share any browser console errors on the same screen where you see these errors, as per the console errors from this GitHub issue which references the same error?
    3. Do you have any other WordPress sites on the same hosting provider that you can attempt Site Kit setup and specifically the AdSense module setup from? From checking your hosting provider you can install a new site from your hosting control panel, testing from a site setup using a subdomain or subdirectory.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above. And happy holidays to you also!

@seto76 Many thanks for sharing your browser console errors. While I may need to check this with the team can you also share details of the other requests so we can determine more on this:

    1. Do you see any errors or warnings when visiting your Site Health status (Tools > Site Health > Status), which differs to your Site Health information. Any errors relating to your REST API in particular may be useful.
    2. Do you have any other WordPress sites on the same hosting provider that you can attempt Site Kit setup and specifically the AdSense module setup from? hi james,

i apologize for not getting back to you. just a quick question. would it help, if i give you a login to my site, so you can check everything you need?

i have more sites on my webserver with the same problem.

i don’t think that it is a hoster problem, because i’m running my own webserver with plesk panel on it.

    greetings seto

    Hi Seto,

I’ve reopened your support topic so we can troubleshoot on this further. While we’re unable to login to users sites as per WordPress support forum guidelines we can perform some additional checks.

Firstly so I can check this with the team can you share a screen recording of your setup experience, using a service such as Loom or RecordIt? Within the screen recording please show the setup experience when trying to connect AdSense, with your browser console errors showing. I can then check this with the team. I suspect there may be a Nginx configuration issue resulting in this notice, based on the errors output. If the same occurs on other sites this may also be an indication of a Nginx configuration or block.

You can use the same form previously used to share a link to the screen recording if you wish to share privately.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above. Once we’re able to see the setup experience I can check this with the team or provide some troubleshooting steps.

    Hi @seto76,

Did you get an opportunity yet to perform a screen recording of your experience so I can share this with the team?

    Hi Seto,

Many thanks for sharing. I’ve inspected your site and I didn’t notice anything unusual that would be blocking Site Kit setup. If you wish to perform some additional troubleshooting steps you may wish to perform the below, which can help rule out third party plugin conflicts. I noticed some cookie related plugins and also some site optimizations, either of which could be impacting your AdSense snippet setup.

I’m away aware you checked this with other plugins deactivated however the check below will also switch to a core theme temporarily during this check, helping to rule out any theme or function relation issues.

    1. Login to your site from a Chrome browser incognito window
    2. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    3. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    4. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google”
    5. Attempt to connect the AdSense module once more

If the same occurs I can check this with the team if you can provide a screen recording of what you’re encountering, so I can discuss your case with the team?

    Hi @seto76,

I’m just following up with you to check whether you’ve since been able to connect the AdSense module by following the steps above? If you haven’t had a chance to try these steps, or if you need assistance let me know.
